A Hy-Grade Steel Roof is engineered to withstand all facets of Ontario’s harsh weather conditions. Our roofing system is very strong and durable, made with 26-gauge, G-90 double-galvanized Canadian steel and coated with 4-mil thick PVC coating that’s elastic enough to expand and contract with the steel. Our system is tested to withstand sustained winds of up to 120 km/h. That’s hurricane-level winds! It will not crack, chip, peel or lift when struck by hail or heavy winds. We are confident Hy-Grade Steel Roofs can withstand whatever climate change impacts come our way.

Steel roofs do not attract lightning any more than other roof types. In fact, should your Hy-Grade Roof be hit by lightning, it may be safer than traditional roofing materials. A steel roof is non-combustible, so it will not burn if struck by lightning.

When other companies claim screws are better than nails for fastening steel roofs, even they know it’s not true! How do we know? Some competitors tried to copy our patented system but had to stop due to patent infringement. Today, Hy-Grade Steel Roofs are the only layered metal roofs fastened with nails instead of screws.

Here’s why nails are better:

Screws cause problems. Screws need to be tightly fastened against the metal, but this often causes tears during installation. Over time, temperature changes cause the metal to expand and contract, which stresses the screws and creates gaps, loosening, and leaks.
Hy-Grade nails are stronger and smoother. Our patented nails and built-in sockets secure the steel without tearing it. Nails also have greater shear strength, meaning they hold up better in strong winds and Ontario’s harsh weather—no shearing off, no leaks, and no need for re-tightening every year!

Plus, screws take longer to install, so many competitors cut corners by fastening fewer panels to save on labor. This leads to a looser fit and a higher chance panels coming off in harsh weather.
